Hey folks, I have a frontend interview scheduled with ByteDance next week, and I’d love some advice on how to prepare. I received their official interview guide, and here’s what I learned about the process: Interview structure: • 3 technical rounds (1 hour each) on Feishu (with video, coding, and whiteboarding). • Final HR round focused on career goals, culture fit, and ByteStyle. Round breakdown: • Round 1 → Discussion on past projects + hands-on coding challenge. • Round 2 → System design (scalable solutions) + coding component. • Round 3 → Tailored (system design or coding) + team-fit discussions. • Round 4 (HR) → Career aspirations, team alignment, and final role discussion. What they emphasize: • Strong grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.js fundamentals. • Clean, maintainable, and testable code. • Ability to break down problems and communicate assumptions. • Handling edge cases and debugging. • Asking clarifying questions and engaging like a teammate. My questions: 1. For the coding rounds, are problems usually frontend-specific (DOM, layouts, React hooks, etc.) or more like general algorithm/data structure challenges (LeetCode-style)? 2. In the system design round, should I expect large-scale architecture (e.g., designing a social feed) or more frontend-focused design (component-driven architecture, performance optimizations)? 3. Any recommended practice resources (besides LeetCode) that are tailored for frontend interviews? 4. For React, how deep should I go — hooks, context, performance patterns, or also things like Redux? If anyone has interviewed with ByteDance (or other big tech companies with a frontend-heavy focus), I’d really appreciate your insights 🙌 Thanks in advance!
