SHOCKED…..
Interview Experience
Update: So it definitely is a legit company, met with them yesterday, Thursday, small / boutique office (6 EE’s total) investment firm. It was not your standard interview, kind of clunky and odd. But the team seemed to be great they all appeared to be middle aged which is probably why he did ask my age which threw me off. I was oddly nervous (typically do not get nervous) and do not feel I presented myself the best I could have. They said they will get back to me next week with an update. 🫣😬 —————- I submitted my resume on Monday to a recruiter and received a call almost immediately after. A couple of hours later, I was told the CEO wanted to have a call with me—and that if he “liked” me, he’d want me to come in to meet the team. We had our call the next day. It was more of a casual, friendly conversation rather than a formal pre-interview, which caught me a bit off guard. What really threw me, though, was when he asked how old I was. It completely derailed my focus. My first thought was: That’s not even legal to ask! Age is only disclosed after you’re hired during the onboarding process—not before. That said, I’m really eager to make a move from my current company. The CEO came across as a genuinely nice person. Given that it’s a smaller firm with zero turnover in 16 plus years, I’m guessing the question came more from a place of curiosity or wanting to gauge longevity rather than anything malicious. I’ll get a better feel for the office and the team when I go in to meet everyone later this week. Fingers crossed—it could be a great fit. Wish me luck!
