Referall

I currently work for a big name SAAS company and have been there 3 years. During my time there I’ve been a top performer and won several awards. Previous to that I worked in the field this company specializes in. I am looking to make the pivot out of my current company to a more industry specific tech company and I found a posting on LI for a well known, but much smaller, company. I applied and heard back in under a week. I was told it would be a 4 interview process. Things moved fast and each day of that week I had an interview including a mock demo call. All those interviews went great and I was told I was the top candidate. The director who was doing my final interview then says she needs 3 recommendation letters from me and that she needs them ASAP bc they want to make a decision in the next 2 days. I found this odd because it was not mentioned ahead of time and it’s the end of quarter so asking previous managers to take time out of their day to write these was unexpected. I got the letters and submitted them. I then hear back from the recruiter that they don’t want letters and that the director misspoke. They actually want to call these references. So now I’ve wasted their time writing letters AND they need to make time for calls. Luckily they are able to do that and I hear that the calls went really well and that the hiring manager was saying he couldn’t wait to speak with him. I assume I’ll hear back in the next two days as that is what I was told. But no. Radio silence for a week. I finally reach out to the recruiter again asking for an update and if they need anything else from me. A day later he says yes and that they need me to do a fifth interview and meet with the chief rev officer. I ask why and he says they think it could be valuable. At this point I’m annoyed, but I say yes. The meeting goes well but I hang up the phone displeased. He didn’t read my resume or letters of rec, was on his phone multiple times, asked the same questions twice bc he wasn’t listening, and told me not to expect the same amount of sales enablement tools I have at current company. I asked what he thought of me and if there was hesitations and he told me he couldn’t tell me but that I would hear back by eod or Monday. That call was Friday and today is Thursday and I’ve heard nothing. I emailed the recruiter on Tuesday and messaged the hiring manager today but no response. I don’t want this job anymore, but I would like some closure at this point. I gave them 5 hours of my time end of quarter for interviews, asked for letters of rec from managers and directors AND they had to take phone calls. All for this company to ghost me.
