Question Details
I recently completed my onsite interview at Google for SWE L3, and I would love to get your feedback on my self-evaluation. Here’s a breakdown of how I think each interview went: # 1st Interview (Coding) * Performance: I feel this went really well. I quickly identified the brute-force solution and then worked towards the optimal solution. I provided the correct time complexity, thoroughly tested my code, and the interviewer seemed happy with my performance. * Rating: Strong Hire / Hire # 2nd Interview (Coding) * Performance: I quickly found the best solution and coded it. Initially, I made a mistake regarding the complexity but corrected myself later. Towards the end, I tested the code and explained that my solution worked. The interviewer raised concerns about some edge cases and mentioned they would review them further. * Rating: Hire / Lean Hire # 3rd Interview (Coding) * Performance: This was my weakest performance. I wasn’t able to find the optimal solution but implemented a correct brute-force solution with proper complexity. I tested the code thoroughly, but I couldn’t progress to the optimal approach. * Rating: No Hire / Lean No Hire # 4th Interview (Behavioral) * Performance: I’m unsure how this will be evaluated. The interviewer asked two behavioral questions, which I answered using the STAR method. Another scenario involved prioritizing tasks when approached by multiple colleagues. I explained that I would use a data-driven approach to assess urgency and impact. For tasks where data isn’t available, I mentioned consulting more experienced colleagues for high-impact decisions. * Rating: (Unable to self-rate this one) Do I have any chance based on my performance and self-evaluation? Thanks in advance for your feedback!
