The position is Engineering Lead, reporting to a senior manager. 50% of the time will still be spent coding. First, there's a chat with HR, then team matching. Once a manager accepts the position, the interview process begins. Phase 1 Final Round 1. LeetCode problems under Easy and Medium difficulty. The questions weren't actually LeetCode problems, but they weren't difficult, and the East Asian guy gave hints. 2. Backend Systems Design, Netflix. A white guy, from another team, EL. Passing these two will allow you to proceed to the next phase. Phase 2 One 60-minute technical deep dive interview. You'll need to describe a previous project, which you need to prepare in advance and send to HR. It should be about three pages long, and specific questions are provided. Business Overview (including an ERD-type image/diagram has been helpful) What Made The Project So Impactful/Challenging? What Risks Did You Take? Success Metrics What Technologies Did You Use? Can you explain those technologies in depth and why you worked with them? Role: You Held on The Project - How Do Your Contributions Make You Stand Out? Technical Decisions and Trade-Offs What The Rollout Plan Was What The Results Were What Were the Lessons Learned & How Did You Share With The Team? One 45-minute behavioral interview with the hiring manager One 45-minute behavioral interview with a peer of the hiring manager Technical & Product Strategy: Basic team management questions. Hiring Manager Interview - Team Building The Indian guy, failed. Clearly not interested in me. Feedback can be requested later; the questions are from the final hiring manager interview. Overall, everyone seemed very nice, and communication was smooth. The culture seemed great.
