Last month, I had my first-round interview at Jane Street, similar to the first round for an SDE intern. The main question was a simulation: simulating a 2D chessboard with two types of pieces. The first task was to design a class and provide a way to add pieces. Pieces are added from the bottom of the board, moving the current column upwards. The second task was, after adding pieces, to determine if any column on the board contains only the same type of piece. The third task was, after adding pieces, to determine if any row on the board contains only the same type of piece. I didn't fully solve the third task due to too many edge cases, and was ultimately rejected. I hope this post can help others here. Please give me some points!
