Hey everyone, just looking for some advice. I'm going to be interning at Walmart in Sunnyvale this summer, and after filling out the skills questionnaire, I finally got my manager. The issue is that the work that I will be doing this summer will be mostly in a domain I have not touched (Python, Java, Spark, and Machine Learning). I have a lot of skills that are much more systems/infra focused like Go, Rust, C, Operating Systems, (one of the biggest talking points in my interview was being the head TA for my school's OS class) and if I had a choice in the matter I would like to be working in cloud environments, or at least distributed systems if I can, I am not super interested in ML. I can't change my manager as far as I know, and I don't really have another offer to renege for anymore. Has anyone been in a situation similar to this one? I don't want to come across as spoiled or anything, but I worked really hard to get this internship and I would hate for it to send signals to future companies that I am interested in something that I am truly not. Any advice is welcomed.
