For the past few months, I’ve basically stopped writing code. I just use Claude to generate it, then spend my entire day reviewing, addressing PR comments, and thinking about architecture. You’d think this makes the job easier, but the constant context switching is completely exhausting. I’m burnt out. Honestly, with how fast Claude is improving, I genuinely feel like 80% of SDEs will be jobless in a few months. If one dev doing architecture plus an AI can do the work of a whole team, why would they keep us? I don't think I can survive this new normal for much longer. Am I just burnt out and overreacting, or is the writing on the wall? Open to criticism, give me a reality check.
