I’m sharing my story here because I believe that resilience is the most important skill anyone can bring to a workplace. Many years ago, a train accident changed my life forever when I lost both of my arms. At that moment, I faced a choice, let the tragedy define me or find a way to adapt and keep moving forward. I chose the latter. Living without both arms for years has taught me more about problem-solving and persistence than any textbook ever could. I’ve had to relearn how to navigate the world, master daily tasks using alternative methods, and face every challenge with a can-do attitude. In an interview setting, people often talk about handling pressure, for me, handling pressure has been my daily reality for years. I wanted to share this to encourage anyone who feels like their limitations are a barrier to their professional dreams. Our scars aren't just signs of what we've lost, they are proof of what we have survived and overcome. If you are an interviewer or a candidate, remember that the strongest people aren't those who never failed, but those who rebuilt themselves when everything seemed lost.
