This happened like 2 minutes ago and i want to jump off a cliff. I was applying for a job in sales development, where the primary job function is to call potential clients and book meetings. At least, that’s what it would have been, if my interview was for a sales development role. Halfway through my third stage interview, the guy stops me, and asks something about visiting manufacturing plants, and i said that that sounds like a job for the folks in (higher position). We just blinked at each other, and he mumbled something about it being a job for this role, and you could see it dawn on us both that we were wasting both our times. I was beet red as i mumbled that i think i was interviewing for the wrong role, and i left the meeting. I dont understand! This is one of the modt awkward experiences of my life. How the hell did I ace two interviews for this role before this? I know nothing about supply chains. The job description i responded to was for another job entirely. Ugh.
