I just finished two back to back virtual interviews for my dream role. I was laid off in October and the job market has not been kind. I've made it to the end of a very lengthy interview process just to be beat out by an internal referral. Today was my dream role interviews. It's for a senior position that I am qualified for, but I feel like I get tripped up and will ramble, OR when I talk about my big achievements, I feel like a phony. I've prepped so much, feel like I know the stories, and then just get thrown off. This particular interview was not for a sales-forward position, but the second interview was with a senior sales manager and it felt like all of his questions were about sales and my sales process. I haven't done sales in 6 years. that's not what this job is. So I had to take my most recent experience and explain how I supported sales but was more on the operational side. I'm rambling again. two interviews, both felt like a solid 6.9/10. 8 open roles but "tons of interviews to debrief on". I felt bold asking "is there anything else you need to know about me, or anything from my answers that give you pause?" which felt confident in the moment but now I feel like it can come off as insecure. They both said no, we have a good idea of your background and skill set. but how can you get that off of a 30 minute call? Asked for next steps: Debrief -> recruiter should reach out within a week or so with an offer or a thanks but no thanks -> wants to have all 8 people in seat by April 1. Overthinking, would they tell me that if they didn't like me? Would they have mentioned the thanks but no thanks if I was going to get the job? Only 3 interviews feels like not enough to get an offer. Anyways, job hunting sucks. Just needed to rant I guess. wishing everyone the best of luck in these times.
