Hi all, I recently cleared the Online Assessment for the Software Engineer (Linux Kernel domain) role at Microsoft. I have 1.9 YOE in C/C++ & Linux,Kernal at IBM as a Software Engineer (Linux Kernel + Systems Programming). I was told there will be 4 rounds (3 Technical + 1 Managerial/Behavioral). Usually, I’ve heard that Microsoft’s technical rounds are mostly DSA + LLD focused, but in the recruiter’s email it was mentioned:
NOTE : Additionally, the HM confirmed on what can be expected on all 3 rounds. Please find them below. Core areas of prep at high level are - Linux fundamentals, Operating Systems fundamentals, C programming concepts with systems and coding best practices, debugging approaches, Kernel Vs User space concepts and system daemons. Additional advantage if they know about Device drivers and Linux Kernel. Now I’m a bit confused about what to prioritize — should I mainly prepare DSA + System Design like in other Microsoft roles, or should I focus more on these Linux/OS/Systems programming concepts since it’s a Software Engineer (Linux Kernel) role? Has anyone here interviewed for a Linux Kernel/Systems Software Engineer role at Microsoft and can share what the rounds are actually like? https://preview.redd.it/cbnrr0cszdlf1.png?width=2940&format=png&auto=webp&s=f83d7b0759a3ed93bf41f5a28b7955e172664cb1 #microsoft #SDE #interview
