Hi everyone, I completed the Amazon SDE Summer 2026 (USA) Internship Online Assessment months ago and just now received an email from a recruiter saying that I successfully cleared the OA. In the email, they mentioned that based on my application they are exploring alignment with Machine Learning / Applied Research (ML/AR) teams before moving to the next steps instead of the generic SDE pool that my friend got. They also asked me to send some information like availability, location preference, graduation date, and a short description of my experience in Machine Learning & Automated Reasoning. A couple of questions for people who have gone through Amazon intern hiring: 1. Does this usually mean the recruiter is trying to match me with a specific team before scheduling interviews? 2. If you get aligned with an ML-related team, are the interviews still the standard SDE intern interviews (DSA + behavioral) or do they also ask ML-specific questions? 3. Does team alignment affect the difficulty or chances of getting an interview? Would appreciate hearing experiences from people who went through Amazon’s intern process. Thanks!
