The experience for my vet school interview at UMK was.. unexpected. And preparing for the iv was not easy, because I couldn't find any specific videos or posts to give me an idea of what i was getting myself into. Basically, the interview had three parts; the pre-interview exam, critical thinking, and academic evaluation. 1) Pre-IV exam It was very straightforward, we had to answer biology-related questions (not too easy, not too hard) on google forms and had 1 hour. Some topics included; Krebs cycle, DNA, parturition, nucleotides, growth, muscle contraction, etc.. things that i learned during SPM and matriculation. Just remember to go through the concepts for each topic, but nothing crazy imo because its MCQ. 2) Critical thinking and problem-solving This was the part of the interview i was really happy about, simply because of how much they asked you again if your answer wasn't satisfactory, and it showed how much the interviewers cared. So, we were split into groups of 5, and were given a prompt. For us, our prompt was focused on blood donation, and how as organisers of an event in a hospital, we needed to find donors within the span of 15 minutes for a patient with AB blood group, whom needed it urgently. We were given time to discuss within ourselves and had to individually present how it would be executed. During this, the interviewer emphasised on team work, problem-solving and execution. One thing i'd also like to point out was, that if you struggled with english, they let you express your ideas in malay. Just make sure to be prepared with some points as you read the prompt. 3) Academic evaluation This part of the interview was.. surprisingly very laid-back. Same thing, groups of 5. In this part, they didn't ask any factual questions.. the two things that were asked was; brief introduction and co-curricular activities you joined. It felt more like the conversation to me, which was great. However, because I went last, it felt as if the interviewer didn't spend much time on me as they did on others, and i had a feeling they didn't like me very much lol. But, this would be the time to tell them what's unique about you. Also, sports. They really like it if you joined lots of sport activities, since it shows how capable you are to work in harsh or outdoor environments. Basically, that was it. I was quite surprised how no hard/factual questions were asked, but i guess it kind of depends on you interviewer. But overall, as long as you are genuine and show effort, you'll be fine. I really hope this helps future candidates!!
